Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Rybakov visits New York

On July 12, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, took part in the High-level meeting of the UN General Assembly on Human Rights “UN@70 – Human Rights at the Centre of the Global Agenda”. The event was organized by the President of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft.

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, also participated in the event.

In his statement V.Rybakov outlined the approaches of Belarus in the field of human rights and called for mutually respectful dialogue, without any hierarchy in the internationally recognized human rights. Valentin Rybakov said that the inclusion of human rights in the UN should have reasonable limits, stressing inadmissibility of artificial tension in human rights issues, where it is not required, and the use of human rights issues for political pressure on sovereign states. Deputy Minister informed about the national efforts of Belarus to comply with its’ international obligations and assured participants of the event that Belarus as a founder of the United Nations had always been and would remain a reliable member of this organization.

During the visit to New York, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Carlos Morales Moscoso.

In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed the state and perspectives of interaction at the multilateral level, in particular, in the framework of the United Nation, as well as agreed to enlarge bilateral cooperation.
