Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus E.Shestakov participates in the Conference “Pan-European Integration Processes: Towards a Mutual Vision through Cross-Border Synergies”

On October 27, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Evgeny Shestakov, participated in the Conference “Pan-European Integration Processes: Towards a Mutual Vision through Cross-Border Synergies”, organized under the auspices of expert initiative “Minsk Dialogue”.

The development of “integration of integration” initiative, promoted by the Republic of Belarus, is at the very core of the Conference agenda.

In his welcoming address at the opening of the Conference, E.Shestakov noted that today Pan-European integration plays a crucial role both on the regional and global scale. E.Shestakov pointed out that these days Minsk also hosts Conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the UN Economic Commission, that is dedicated to a similar subject, such as economic integration and sustainable development in our region towards 2030.

The Deputy Minister underlined that Belarus, being at the junction of two integration associations, is particularly interested in the mutual convergence of the Eurasian and European Union. Our country can and should play a role in these unifying processes.

E.Shestakov urged the participants of the Conference to develop a critical mass of arguments and join efforts to ensure the stability of our region.

The conference was attended by the Member of the Board (Minister) for the Main Areas of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Tatiana Valovaya, the Deputy Secretary General of the CEI, Margot Klestil-Löffler, the Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus, Andrea Wictorin, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Member of the Austro-French Centre of the Council of Reconciliation for Europe, Peter Jankowitsch,as well as distinguished Belarusian and foreign scientists, political experts, representatives of the diplomatic corps.
