Signing of the Protocol on the results of consultations between the SCO member states and the Republic of Belarus

On January 17, 2023 in Varanasi (the Republic of India) the Head of the Main Directorate of Asia, Africa and Latin America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Igor Bely, took part in the the Signing Ceremony of the Protocol following consultations between the authorised representatives of the SCO member states and the authorised representative of the Republic of Belarus.

At the ceremony the Belarusian side expressed its readiness to accelerate the implementation of international legal procedures for joining the SCO as a full-fledged member.

In 2010 the Republic of Belarus obtained the status of the SCO dialogue partner and became the SCO observer state in 2015. The decision to launch the procedure for Belarus' accession to the Organization was adopted at the summit in Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan) in September 2022.
