Consultations on «Reporting in accordance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: the fifth periodic report of the Republic of Belarus»

On May 18, 2017, Minsk hosted expert consultations on «Reporting in accordance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: the fifth periodic report of the Republic of Belarus». The consultations were organized upon the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN Country Team in Belarus. During the event, the fifth periodic report of the Republic of Belarus was presented (document CCPR/C/BLR/5). The report was sent to the UN Human Rights Committee in April 2017.

Belarusian parliamentarians, representatives of government bodies and public associations, international organizations and diplomatic corps, accredited in the Republic of Belarus, participated in the consultations.

Such consultations took place for the first time in our country in the context of reporting to the UN Human Rights Committee. Participants exchanged their views on a wide range of issues regarding the implementation of civil and political rights set forth in the International Covenant and also considered foreign experience in the preparation of reports to the UN Human Rights Committee.
