Representatives of the diplomatic corps visit the construction site of the Belarusian NPP in Astravyets

On May 26, 2017 upon the invitation of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Belarus and Lithuania, visited the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Astravyets.



The event was attended by diplomats from more than 25 countries, representing not only Europe, but also the Middle East, Asia, the CIS countries. They got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the nuclear power plant, its’ project and systems ensuring the highest international safety standards, visited the information and training centers.



The participants of the visit took advantage of this opportunity to receive answers to their questions directly from the officials and specialists involved in the implementation of the nuclear power project. The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mikhail Mikhadyuk, the plant's management and specialists involved in the construction, answered numerous questions related to the technical aspects of the project, safety ensuring system, the interaction of the Belarusian side with relevant international structures, including the IAEA, as well as the European Union.



The visit of representatives of the diplomatic corps to the construction site of Belarusian NPP, which over the past two years was visited by more than 70 foreign delegations from many countries of the world and different international organizations, is aimed to demonstrate the responsible and transparent approach of the Belarusian side to the implementation of this project.
