Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in the joint meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign and Defense Ministers, Security Council Secretaries

On October 14, 2016 in Yerevan the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, participated in the joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council, Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of the Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on the development of cooperation among the CSTO Member States in the near future, including the collaboration in the field of combating international terrorism and other pressing issues. The participants also discussed the agenda of the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

In his statement, V.Makei presented the priorities of the Republic of Belarus during the upcoming Chairmanship of our country of the CSTO. Main attention will be paid to the coordination of common efforts of the Member States on international platforms, building capacity for crisis response and development of the peacekeeping component of the Organization, improvement of the information aspects of the fight against terrorism.

The participants of the meeting approved a number of documents providing for the coordination of collective security strategy for the period until 2025, strengthening the fight against terrorism and extremism, improvement of the military and technical cooperation, increasing joint efforts to ensure border security, training of military personnel, emergency response and implementation of peacekeeping missions.
