On May 15-16, 2018 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Reoubluc of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, visited Helsinki, Finland.
O.Kravchenko met with the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Anne Marjana Sipilainen. The sides discussed current state and progress for development of the Belarusian-Finnish and Belarus-E relations, including “Eastern Partnership”, as well as cooperation within international organization.
In the course of the visit Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus participated in Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Finland. The Finnish delegation was headed by the Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Maimo Henriksson.
During the consultations, the parties discussed issues on the bilateral agenda in political, trade, economic, humanitarian, environmental and other areas. The sides noted the mutual interest in expansion of trade contacts, implementation of joint economic and investment projects, including the initiatives related to the entry into the market of Eurasian Economic Union.
At the meeting with the Chair of the International Affairs Commission of the Parliament of Finland, Matti Vanhanen, and Chair of the Group of Friendship with Belarus in the Parliament of Finland, Wille Rydman, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation with the focus on interparliamentary dimension.
During the visit, O.Kravchenko also delivered the lecture “Foreign policy of Belarus and its’ role in the region” in the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki and answered the numerous questions.
