Belarus participates at the 56th session of the Committee for Programme and Coordination of the United Nations

On May 31 — June 24, 2016 the UN headquarters in New York hosts the 56th session of the Committee for Programme and Coordination of the United Nations (CPC).

From Belarus the Director-General for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was elected as a rapporteur to the CPC bureau.

The 56th session of CPC will review the Strategic Framework for the period 2018-2019 and examine the report on current programme performance.

Background Information: Comprised of 31 UN Member-States, CPC is the main subsidiary organ of the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly for planning, programming and coordination on administrative and budgetary questions of the UN. Belarus is elected as a member of the CPC for the period 2015-2017.

CPC reviews the implementation of current UN programmes, including from the budget implications point of view, evaluates the results achieved, and makes, if necessary, recommendations with regard to priority and improvement of methods of programme implementation within the UN system.
