Ambassador of Belarus S.Aleinik visits Ireland

On May 30 – June 1, 2016 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the UK and Ireland non-resident, Sergei Aleinik, visited Dublin and Cork (Ireland).

While in Dublin, the Ambassador of Belarus met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, Charles Flanagan, and the Director General of Europe Division of the MFA of Ireland, Eoin O'Leary.

In the course of the meetings, the sides discussed the whole range of issues of bilateral and international agenda.
S.Aleinik also held a meeting with the Executive Staff of the Irish foreign trade agency “Enterprise Ireland” to discuss opportunities of developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting with the top management of CRH Corporation, the Ambassador of Belarus discussed prospects for implementation of a large investment project in Belarus with the Corporation involvement.

On May 31, during the visit to Cork, Ambassador of Belarus met with the Lord Mayor of Cork, Chris O'Leary, and leadership of the Cork Chamber of Commerce and the Irish Football Association. The participants of the meetings discussed prospects for regional economic and humanitarian cooperation.

Ambassador of Belarus also met with the founder and CEO of Chernobyl Children International Charity, Adi Roche, and attended a friendship football match between the National teams of Belarus and Ireland. Before the match, Ambassador of Belarus had a conversation with the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

On June 1, S.Aleinik met with the Director General of the EU Affairs and Coordination Division of the Office of Prime Minister of Ireland.

In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues and noted a substantial potential for the development of bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Ireland.
