Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in CIS Council of Foreign Ministers

On September 16, 2016 in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, took part in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Participants of the meeting discussed 16 issues, among them were the draft Statement of the CIS Heads of States, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth and the Decision of the CIS Council of Heads of States on adaptation of the Organization to modern realities. Foreign Ministers considered the draft statement of the Heads of CIS-participating states on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the completion of the Nuremberg Trials, on the world drug problem, on further joint efforts to combat international terrorism, as well as a number of documents on law enforcement issues.

Important point was the approval of a draft convention on inter-regional cooperation of the CIS member states, aimed at further development of interregional relations with current problems.

During the meeting, the sides agreed on the draft decisions on a plan of priority activities of the CIS member states in the field of humanitarian cooperation for 2017-2018, on the implementation in 2017 of the Interstate program “Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth,” to hold in the CIS the Year of the Family in 2017, and Year of Culture in 2018.
