12 April 2024

On April 12, 2024 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, held negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, who is in Minsk to attend a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS.

Belarus and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Ministers expressed their conviction that the Roadmap signed in February 2024 will give a new impetus to the development of the entire range of bilateral relations and will contribute to the substantive expansion and substantial intensification of interaction between the two countries. The document envisages more than 60 specific measures aimed primarily at developing topical areas of economic co-operation and increasing the volume of mutual trade in goods and services.

During the negotiations, a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Azerbaijani cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as interaction on international platforms were considered.

The foreign ministers paid special attention to the organisation of upcoming visits and high-level contacts, deepening trade relations, industrial cooperation and implementation of joint trade and economic projects.

An agreement was reached to continue mutual support within the framework of international organisations. Both countries share the principle of respect for the sovereign path of development of the state, the inadmissibility of interference in internal affairs and the use of illegal methods of pressure in international relations.
