First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Aleksandr Mikhnevich participates in the opening ceremony of the international conference

On March 27, 2015 First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Mikhnevich participated in the opening ceremony of the international conference “The EU, Russia and the Shared Neighbourhood: Bridging the Divide”, that is the first event of the “Minsk Dialogue” forum.

In the speech Aleksandr Mikhnevich stated that amid a new geopolitical situation, recent unprecedented tension in international relations and an increase in the number of regional conflicts, Minsk is open to initiatives on peace and consent achievement, ensuring of international and regional security. Hence MFA supports efforts by representatives of the Belarusian and international expert community in arranging “Minsk Dialogue” forum. Whether the forum will be recognized as a permanent analytical platform for the current international and regional issues discussion depends solely on the experts — to what extent their recommendations will be balanced and demanded.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also noted that Eurasian Economic Union offers new prospects for the cooperation and collaboration within the region. The constructive cooperation between EEU and EU should be aimed at the prevention of the “clashes” of integrations and the formation of new dividing lines in Europe.
