Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei holds a working meeting with the Heads of Belarusian Diplomatic Missions and Consulates

On July 15, 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, held a working meeting with the participants of the annual seminar of Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consulates of the Republic of Belarus.

V.Makei set diplomats tasks of implementing the guidelines of the Head of State regarding a progressive social and economic development of the country.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister noted that Belarus continues to face serious challenges in foreign economic activity. Hence, special attention was paid to the detailed analysis of foreign trade activities in the regional and country context. V.Makei underlined the importance of increasing the volume of exports of goods and services specified in the National Programme for the Development and Export Promotion for 2016-2020. Due to the instructions by the President of the Republic of Belarus, special attention was paid to the implementation of promising investment projects in Belarus with the involvement of foreign capital.

The participants discussed in detail prospects for the development of cooperation between Belarus and its’ key partners – the Russian Federation, the CIS countries, the European Union and the states of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The Minister noted the need to give a qualitatively new impetus to the unification initiatives of Belarus in the United Nations. V.Makei called to actively put forward new ideas aimed at the consolidation of efforts in the framework of international organizations to address pressing global challenges and threats.

The participants formulated tasks regarding the preparation of such major international forums, as the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as well as a series of events related to the Chairmanship of Belarus in the Central European Initiative to be held in Minsk.

The parties also discussed the issues of improving the work of consular services of Belarusian overseas institutions to protect the rights and interests of Belarusian citizens abroad.
