Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus O.Kravchenko visits Latvia

On June 3, 2019 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, paid a working visit to the Republic of Latvia.

Upon the invitation of the Latvian Presidency in the Council of the Baltic Sea States, O.Kravchenko participated in the high-level meeting of the CBSS Member States (since 2009 Belarus has been an observer in this organization).
 
 
In his statement, the Deputy Minister highlighted Belarus’ position on the Baltic Sea Region Member States’ cooperation, emphasized common priorities, informed of Belarus’ contribution to the development of regional cooperation to address common challenges, proposed mutually beneficial fields of cooperation.
 
 
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Poland, and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia made their comments during the discussion on the CBSS cooperation with Belarus.
 
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid discussed the issues of Belarusian-European cooperation.
 
On the same day, political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Belarus and Latvia with the participation of O.Kravchenko and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Andris Pelšs, were held. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Belarus and Latvia in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other spheres, development of Belarus-EU relations, the Eastern Partnership, as well as the cooperation within international organizations.
 
The Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Belarus also met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima of Latvia, Rihards Kols. The parties discussed bilateral interaction, the situation in the region, as well as opportunities for enhancing cooperation.
