On May 17, 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters upon the initiative of Belarus and on the occasion of the International Day of Families, the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, dedicated to the important contribution of the family to sustainable development was held. The event was organized by the Group of Friends of the Family in partnership with U.S. NGOs.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, UN Under-Secretary-General, Cristina Gallach, heads of diplomatic missions to the UN and representatives of civil society organizations attended the ceremony.
The speakers emphasized the important role of the family in ensuring the successful sustainable development and called for more active efforts, including in the framework of the United Nations, to promote and protect the family and family values.
