Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the American newspaper photographer

On November 10, 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the American newspaper photographer, the author of the photo exhibition “Chernobyl: the tragedy, lessons, hope”, organized with assistance of Belarus in April, 2016 in the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Philip Grossman.

The Foreign Minister of Belarus told the American guest about significant efforts of the Belarus on overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl Disaster.

The international demand of the unique experience accumulated by Belarus on rehabilitation of contaminated territories, revival of social and economic activity and provision of safe living conditions for the people in the affected areas also was considered.

Philip Grossman expressed his impressions of a trip to areas of the Gomel region and further plans in order to raise awareness of the American public and the world community on the most essential needs of the people affected by the Chernobyl accident. In this regard he intends to organize a new photo exposition and to shoot the documentary about the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
