MFA Collegium considers the results of the diplomatic service activity in 2014

On February 26, 2015 the Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus considered the results of the diplomatic service activity in 2014.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, representatives of the Presidential Administration, Council of Ministers, National Assembly as well as senior officials of a number of state administrative bodies and leading Belarusian enterprises took part in the Collegium session.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei gave an overall assessment of the results the Ministry and diplomatic missions had achieved in 2014, analyzed key challenges placing a special focus on the trade cooperation and outlined the ways these challenges can be addressed in order to meet economic targets formulated by the President of the Republic of Belarus. Ambassadors of Belarus to Belgium, China, Russia, Turkmenistan and Ukraine suggested a number of further activity directions taking into account markets peculiarities and situation in different regions.

In 2015 MFA and diplomatic missions will focus on export increase and diversification as well as on direct foreign investments attraction, first of all within the implementation of strategic investment projects.

Promotion of Belarusian interests in the Eurasian Economic Union is the focus area of the MFA activity.

MFA will continue its efforts to maintain and strengthen positions of Belarus at the markets of EAEU member-states as well as to diversify export to Europe, CIS countries and new markets of Asia, America, and Africa.

This work will be supported by means of export stimulation and financial support system aimed at complementing traditional export facilitation instruments.

In the closing speech, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov highlighted priorities of the MFA and diplomatic missions’ activity to promote and diversify export, attract direct foreign investments, develop credit and investment cooperation at large and collaborate with key economic partners of the Republic of Belarus.

In conclusion, Prime Minister stated that Government places an emphasis on the efficient work of the MFA system. The current problems solution and effective realization of opportunities will require Government, Foreign Service, diplomatic missions and regions joint efforts.
