Alexander Lukashenko Approves Draft Treaty on Extradition Between Belarus and UAE (press release by press service of the President)

Head of the State Alexander Lukashenko has approved the draft Treaty on Extradition between the Republic of Belarus and the United Arab Emirates to be used as a basis for further talks. The document defines the grounds and procedure under which persons on the territories of both countries shall be extradited for instituting criminal proceedings or executing the sentence. The draft Treaty identifies the procedure for confiscation and transfer as evidence of the proceeds and instruments of crime and of other property requested, it stipulates the terms of transit transportation of persons extradited by the parties to the third countries. The document is aimed at further deepening of cooperation between Belarus and the UAE, at combining efforts of both states in combating crime. Minister of Justice Viktor Golovanov has been authorized to hold negotiations on the draft Treaty.
