6th round of the Belarus-EU Human Rights dialogue

On June 18, 2019 the 6th round of the Belarus-EU Human Rights Dialogue took place in Brussels.  

The delegation of Belarus was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko, the delegation of the European Union – by the Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia of the European External Action Service Thomas Mayr-Harting. 

During the meeting the Sides discussed the current state and perspectives of further interaction between Belarus and the EU in the field of human rights, including in the context of implementation of the National Plan of Actions on Human Rights and recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council. The dialogue also addressed various aspects of upholding human rights both in Belarus and in certain EU Member States. 

A separate segment of the meeting took place with participation of the Belarusian civil society organisations.

Oleg Kravchenko also met with the EU Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore, who also took part in the opening of the plenary part of the Belarus-EU Human Rights dialogue. The meeting addressed the perspectives of further interaction between Belarus and the EU Special Representative on various points of the agenda of Belarus-EU cooperation in the field of human rights.

On 19 June 2019 the Deputy Foreign Minister held a meeting with the EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator Myria Vassiliadou. The agenda of the meeting covered various aspects of cooperation between Belarus and the European Union on anti-trafficking, including on the international arena.
