Third meeting of Belarus-EU Coordination Group

On April 3-4, 2017 Minsk hosted the third meeting of Belarus-EU Coordination Group.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko. The EU delegation was led by the Managing Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS) for Europe and Central Asia, Thomas Mayr-Harting. The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other state agencies and organizations of Belarus, as well as the delegates from the EEAS and the European Commission took part in the session.

The sides discussed prospects for further development of Belarus-EU relations, including Belarus’ participation in the Eastern Partnership initiative, interaction in the sphere of mobility, current state of the sectoral dialogues, cooperation in the framework of the EU technical assistance programs, as well as human rights issues.

During the visit to Minsk the head of the EU delegation, Thomas Mayr-Harting, met with senior officials of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

On April 4  Thomas Mayr-Harting was also received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei.

The parties discussed current issues of Belarus-EU interaction.

Background information: Belarus-EU Coordination Group was established in 2016 to maintain structured complex dialogue on the whole spectrum of issues of bilateral interaction. The first session of the Coordination Group was held in Brussels on 6-7 April 2016, the second one took place in Minsk on 16-17 November 2016.
