Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Qatar

On November 5, 2019 Minsk hosted the fourth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Qatar. The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Dapkiunas, and the Qatari delegation was led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Hassan al-Hammadi.

During the consultations, the interlocutors discussed the current issues on bilateral agenda, assessed the current state and prospects for the development of the Belarusian-Qatari dialogue, including at the highest and high levels.

The special attention at the consultations was paid to the opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Minsk, which will begin its’ work in the near future. Two Qatari diplomats have already arrived to Belarus to open the Embassy.

The Belarusian and Qatari diplomats discussed the issues of expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation, as well as the exchange the business delegations.

The Deputy Foreign Ministers agreed that above and other issues should be discussed in details during the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental cooperation commission scheduled for the next year.

In addition, the leaders of the Belarusian and Qatari delegations exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and the European region, and discussed the interaction of the two states within the UN and other multilateral international organizations.
