On November 2, 2018 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Violence against Children, Marta Santos Pais.
V.Makei presented the Special Representative with the priorities of the Republic of Belarus in the field of child protection and Belarusian initiatives within the UN to combat violence.
The Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry underlined that our country is interested in developing global effective approaches to combat cybercrime in the context of child protection. To this end, Belarus is keen to initiate a new UN resolution focused on public-private partnership and involvement along with law enforcement officials representatives of academia, business, civil society, as well as teachers and parents into the processes of prevention of cybercrimes against children.
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General highly appreciated the initiatives of Belarus and expressed her readiness to develop cooperation between Belarus and the UN on their implementation.
On November 1, 2018, during her first visit to Belarus, Marta Santos Pais participated in the international round table “Countering crimes against children in the Internet: best world practices”.
