Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus E.Shestakov visits Nicaragua

On May 21 – 23, 2025 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Evgeny Shestakov visited the Republic of Nicaragua. The 4th meeting of the Belarusian-Nicaraguan Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Managua. The Nicaraguan delegation was headed by Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Oscar Mojica.

 
 

During the meeting of the Commission, Belarusian and Nicaraguan enterprises and agencies held direct constructive talks. Promising “points of growth” of mutually beneficial cooperation were identified in spheres of trade, economic, science, education and culture.

The parties expressed their mutual interest in intensifying cooperation in a number of strategically important areas, including expansion of supplies of Belarusian municipal, road, construction, cargo, passenger and agricultural machinery, participation of Belarusian companies in Nicaraguan investment projects in road, industrial and housing construction, development of transport infrastructure, as well as supplies of pharmaceutical and medical products to the Nicaraguan market.

Following the meeting of the Commission, a number of relevant bilateral documents were signed, including the Detailed Plan for the Development of Comprehensive Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Nicaragua until 2030. New interbank individual agreements were concluded.

 
 

During the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Managua, an ambulance produced by MAZ was handed over to Nicaragua. The parties noted that machinery produced by Belarusian industrial giants has a serious potential in Nicaragua.

In addition, during the visit, a round of bilateral inter-ministerial consultations at the level of deputy ministers was held with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua Valdrack Jaentschke and Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for the Development of Relations with Belarus – Advisor to Nicaraguan President on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo. The Nicaraguan side was headed by Deputy Minister Ivan Lara Palacios.

In the course of the meetings and negotiations, the parties discussed a wide range of issues and agreed on further steps for the step-by-step development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
