On November 28, 2024 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Yuri Ambrazevich, met with the Director of the Department for Multilateral Human Rights Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russian MFA Commissioner for Human Rights, Grigory Lukyantsev, on the sidelines of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on human rights issues. The meeting was held within the framework of the plan for joint MFA consultations on human rights between the two countries.
Yuri Ambrazevich noted the high level of interaction between Belarus and Russia in international organizations on human rights issues and called for continuing to strengthen the positions of the two countries in the promoted agenda in this area.
During the consultations, the parties emphasized the similarity of the two countries' approaches to human rights issues and discussed joint actions within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN and OSCE. The two sides exchanged views on current trends in the functioning and reforming the human rights treaty bodies and agreed on joint initiatives on human rights in the international arena in 2025.
