On May 20, 2024 within the framework of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Astana, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Aleinik, negotiates with the Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi.
The sides discussed bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation, regional issues, interaction in the international arena, the Belt and Road Initiative, SCO and BRICS issues, as well as the schedule of contacts at various levels and other topics.
Sergei Aleinik noted that cooperation between Belarus and China is a model of a new type of international relations.
The countries work together to establish and strengthen a fairer, multipolar system in the world. Together reject external pressure and illegal sanctions imposed by the United States and the collective West, which undermine stability and development of economic ties of most countries.
The sides agreed to continue to support each other in upholding fundamental national interests in the international arena.
The Foreign Minister of Belarus reaffirmed the support for the Initiatives on Global Security, Global Development, and Global Civilization put forward by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, which call for strengthening international dialogue and cooperation. These concepts are of great importance for the resolution of current problems facing the modern world.
The parties also discussed the work of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The sides reached an understanding on the need to strengthen the coordinating role of this bilateral instrument.
The Chinese side supported the deepening of Belarus's interaction with BRICS and the work of the Belarusian side within the framework of the SCO.
