On January 8-11, 2018 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Kingdom and the Holy See non-resident, Sergei Aleinik, is paying a working visit to the Vatican.
The Ambassador attended the New Year's audience with Pope Francis for the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See and had a brief conversation with the Pontiff.
During the visit, S.Aleinik met with State Secretary of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State of the Vatican, Archbishop Paul Gallagher and President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Kurt Koch. The parties discussed further development of bilateral cooperation, cooperation within international organizations, as well as the situation in the region.

The Ambassador also met with the Prefect of the Vatican Apostolic Library, Cesare Pasini. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the multivolume facsimile edition “The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna” as a gift to the Vatican Apostolic Library from the National Library of Belarus.
