On May 11, 2016 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Evgeny Shestakov attended the opening session of the permanent seminar of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia “Common information space of the Union State”.
In his welcoming speech, Evgeny Shestakov noted that carrying out the information policy of the Union State the development of allied media is of primary importance, as well as direct contacts and joint projects of Belarusian and Russian media. They are designed to convey to the people objective information on the status of the union construction. The Deputy Minister urged to treat with special attention to the coverage of the Belarusian-Russian integration agenda, to avoid “labeling” and “looking for the black cat in a coal hole”.
The seminar was attended by members of national parliaments of Belarus and Russia, representatives of the Union State Permanent Committee, the Presidential Administration, ministries and departments of the two countries, academies of sciences, research institutes and centers, as well as leading Russian and Belarusian media.
In the program of the seminar is a wide range of topics, including main issues of creation of a common information space, its legal regulation, safety of its functioning and others.
