Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik meets the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches of the Holy See

On June 29, 2023 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, met with the Papal Legate, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches of the Holy See, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti.

The Papal Legate arrived in Belarus as a special envoy of Pope Francis to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Coronation of the Budslau Icon of the Mother of God.

The main topics of the detailed negotiations were the current situation in the Eurasian region and in the world in general, cooperation between Belarus and the Vatican in multilateral formats, bilateral relations and contacts at various levels with the Holy See.

The parties confirmed the mutual focus on the further development of the Belarusian-Vatican cooperation, as well as the strengthening of interfaith dialogue, peace and harmony.
