On September 12, 2024 the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lukashevich, participated in the 23rd Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Ministers Responsible for Foreign Economic and Foreign Trade Activities in Islamabad.
In his statement, S.Lukashevich outlined the readiness of the Republic of Belarus to promote progressive sustainable economic growth in the interests of preserving and maintaining peace and stability in the SCO area.
During the meeting, the activities of the SCO Business Council and the Consortium of SCO Economic Analytical Centers were discussed, the progress of the Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States for 2021 ‒ 2025 and the Joint Action Plan for the Development of Intraregional Trade within the SCO for 2023 ‒ 2025 were reviewed, and a joint statement on fair trade and sustainable development was signed.
On the sidelines of the event, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held meetings with the heads of delegations from Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, during which both aspects of bilateral cooperation and interaction within the SCO were discussed. During the meeting with the SCO Deputy Secretary General, Sohail Khan, Sergey Lukashevich discussed issues of further integration of Belarus into the SCO "family".
The First Deputy Foreign Minister held talks with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on International Affairs, Tariq Fatemi, and the Chai of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Atif Ikram Sheikh. During the meetings, the upcoming agenda of bilateral Belarusian ‒ Pakistani contacts, the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan planned to be conducted by the end of this year, as well as the issues of business cooperation were discussed.
