On June 18-19, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, held talks with Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, who is paying an official visit to Belarus.
A wide range of issues relating to Belarus-Kazakhstan cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on joint steps to further develop bilateral trade, industrial cooperation and integration ties.
The Ministers noted that the achieved level of strategic partnership and the high intensity of interstate cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan allow taking steps for the qualitative strengthening of trade and economic relations and reaching new joint cooperation projects.
The readiness and interest of the parties to study and apply the experience and possibilities of Belarus in modernization of industrial, agricultural and other complexes of Kazakhstan was emphasized.
The Ministers stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in agriculture, including in terms of increasing the supply of Belarusian agricultural equipment and localization of its production in Kazakhstan.
The schedule of forthcoming interstate contacts was verified.
During the talks, both countries expressed interest in developing partnerships within the framework of international organizations (UN, OSCE, CICA) and integration associations (EAEU, CSTO, CIS, and SCO). Both Belarus and Kazakhstan view these structures as platforms for rapprochement rather than confrontation, for creating favorable conditions for economic growth and improving the well-being of citizens, and for strengthening the sphere of collective security.
The parties noted the similarity of views and assessments of the current situation in the global and regional dimensions. It was noted that the system of international relations needs restoration of the rule of law, a new security system, which will take into account the interests of everyone, refusal of interference in the internal affairs of states and illegal sanction pressure as a tool for imposing alien political will.
The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry expressed his gratitude for Kazakhstan's assistance in the accession of Belarus to the SCO as a full member of the Organization.
