On April 27, 2016 the joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Liberia has been signed at the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations in New York.
On behalf of Belarus the communiqué was signed by the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations, Andrei Dapkiunas, on behalf of Liberia by the Chargé d'Affaires of Liberia to the United Nations George S.W. Patten.
Following the signature the Heads of Belarusian and Liberian diplomatic missions have discussed the opportunities of strengthening bilateral cooperation. In particular, the diplomats have considered prospective areas of economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as measures to enhance cooperation between delegations of Belarus and Liberia in the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
