On 22-23 January, 2018 in Vienna the first preparatory meeting of the 26th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum (EEF), dedicated to the issues of the digital economy, is taking place. Representatives of 57 participating states, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities Vuk Jugic, Member of Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission K.Minasyan as well as representatives of business circles and the scientific community participate in the meeting.
The delegation of Belarus headed by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the OSCE Ambassador Alena Kupchyna is taking part in the meeting.
In her statement the Belarusian diplomat noted the importance of the digital economy in the context of technological progress and globalization. She expressed the opinion that interaction in this area could contribute to overcoming economic fragmentation in the OSCE area and building bridges between East and West.
Alena Kupchyna stressed the willingness of the Belarusian side to contribute to the development of the digital topic on the OSCE’s agenda and share experience, including in the light of the Decree On the Development of the Digital Economy, signed by the President of the Republic of Belarus in December 2017.
She announced the initiative of Belarus to hold this May in Minsk the Digital Forum of Eurasian countries with a view to developing various forms of public-private partnership, harmonizing the national digital markets of Europe and Asia, as well as step-by-step establishing pan-Eurasian digital market space.
The Director-General of the Association “Infopark”, Chairman of the Confederation of Digital Business of Belarus Mr. Vladimir Basko will be the speaker at the working session of the meeting dedicated to the digital economy as a driver for growth and connectivity.
