On May 4, 2023 the office of the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China was opened.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John KC Lee, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Liu Guangyuan, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of
the Republic of Belarus to the People's Republic of China, Yury Senko.
In their speeches, the Belarusian and Chinese officials highlighted a positive dynamics of the bilateral interaction and great potential for cooperation, prospects and readiness of the parties to develop and strengthen cooperation between the business communities of Belarus and Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region, John KC Lee, noted that "one of the strengths of Belarus as a founding member of the Eurasian Economic Union is its well-developed industrial, scientific and technological base, which attracts investors from Hong Kong”. He also emphasized a significant role of Belarus in the implementation of the initiative "One Belt, One Road" and the parties' interest in the promotion of humanitarian relations, as well as in quality development of tourism potential.
