On the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Belarus and the Republic of South Sudan

On September 3, 2013 the signing of the joint communiqué on the diplomatic relations establishment between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of South Sudan took place at the Embassy of Belarus in Egypt.
On behalf of Belarus the joint communiqué was signed by Mr.Igor Fissenko, Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt, on behalf of South Sudan – by Mr.Anthony Kon, Ambassador of South Sudan to Egypt.
The communiqué states that the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of South Sudan agreed to establish diplomatic relations confirming mutual recognition of the principles of equality of the states, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of each party.
During the meeting that was held after ceremony of signing, the Ambassadors of Belarus and South Sudan expressed their eagerness to develop mutually beneficial bilateral relations in all the directions including political, commercial, economic and cultural cooperation, as well as confirmed interest in organizing exchange of business delegations of the two countries.
Mr.Anthony Kon informed on the plans of the South Sudan’s government to concurrently accredit in Belarus the Ambassador of South Sudan to Russia.
