Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus regarding the military coup attempt in Turkey

With serious concern Belarus has learnt the latest news about the military coup attempt in the Republic of Turkey, carried out by an isolated group of the Turkish military.

It is particularly regrettable that there are casualties among the civilians.

We are in full solidarity with the Turkish leadership that qualifies these acts as a treasonable attack on the people and legally elected authorities of Turkey.

The Belarusian side strongly condemns the criminal attempt of illegal overthrow of the government. We express our support to the President and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

We are convinced that the Turkish government with the support of its nation and army will be able to stabilize the situation in the country within a short period of time. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
