On March 11, 2024 as part of the second day of the visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Evgeny Shestakov to Dhaka, the Belarusian delegation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Hassan Mahmud.
The interlocutors coordinated approaches to the further development of the Belarusian-Bangladeshi dialogue in the political, trade and economic spheres. The Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed a message from the Prime Minister of Belarus addressed to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
Interaction in the economic sphere, primarily industrial cooperation and agriculture, was discussed during meetings with the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of Bangladesh, Tazul Islam, the Minister of Agriculture of Bangladesh, Abdus Shahid and the Chair of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation, Abdullah Sazzad.
Topical issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Bangladesh were discussed at the meeting with the State Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh, Ahasanul Islam Titu. The sides agreed to intensify work on the implementation of a number of projects of mutual interest and organize in 2024 the second Session of the Joint Belarusian-Bangladesh Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
During the visit, Evgeny Shestakov held negotiations at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry with representatives of Bangladeshi business circles interested in developing cooperation with Belarus. It was agreed to exchange the visits by business delegations of the two countries this year in the areas of mutual interest.
