On 26-28 June 2016, a Belarusian official delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Evgeny Shestakov, attended the 10th World Economic Forum — Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2016 — in Tianjin (People’s Republic of China).

This Forum is viewed as the summer equivalent of the wintertime World Economic Forum hosted by Davos in Switzerland. This year the Forum dedicated to the Fourth Industrial Revolution saw attendance of nearly 1500 representatives of the world business, governmental and academic communities.

During thematic seminars, the Forum participants debated changes to the modern economy and world on the whole by virtue of research and development breakthroughs and cooperation in the joint construction of the Economic Belt of the Silk Way.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Evgeny Shestakov met with the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, Philipp Rösler, the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun, the Deputy President of the Japan External Trade Organization, Yasushi Akahoshi, as well as the representative of the Indian company Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Rajat Bhargava. The parties discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation.

On 28 June, during a meeting at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Vice Foreign Minister, Li Baodong, the sides explored bilateral cooperation within the international organizations, as well as prospects of ongoing Belarus-Chinese relations.
