On the inter-ministerial consultations on the inventory of the Belarusian-Iranian legal framework and other international legal issues

On 14-15 January 2025, Minsk is hosting consultations between the delegations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the inventory of the treaty and legal framework of Belarusian-Iranian relations and other international legal issues.

 

 

Yury Ambrazevich, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, addressed the participants of the consultations with welcoming remarks.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Andrei Popkov, the Director of the General Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Iranian delegation was headed by the Director of the General International Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Ali Mousavi.

Within the framework of consultations, the parties discussed the status of the draft international legal documents under consideration with a view to finalising their agreement and preparing them for signing. 

The parties worked to update the lists of bilateral international treaties and other international documents in force between Belarus and Iran, and exchanged information on the practice of their implementation.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on topical international legal issues within the framework of the UN and the SCO.
