Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov meets Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria

On 5–7 August 2026, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, paid an official visit to the Republic of Belarus.

On 6 August, the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, held a thorough and encouraging discussion with Ahmed Attaf, during which the parties reviewed the implementation of agreements reached following the visit of the Belarusian Head of State to Algeria in December 2025.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Cooperation Roadmap, which covers 43 specific areas of interaction in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as major Belarusian–Algerian industrial cooperation projects, in particular the establishment of assembly plants for Belarusian buses and tractors in Algeria.

On the same day, negotiations between the heads of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Algeria took place both in a one-on-one format and in an expanded session.

The ministers highlighted their mutual interest in stepping up bilateral engagement and expressed their readiness to work towards this goal.

The sides discussed preparations for the visit to Algeria by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for September 2026, and the second meeting of the Belarusian–Algerian Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which will take place in October 2026.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue the practice of mutual support within international organisations.

As part of his visit, Ahmed Attaf will also take part in a working meeting with the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova.
