On the consultations between Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Thailand

On July 17, 2024 the Foreign Ministry hosted the first round of Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand at the level of heads of departments.

The Belarusian side was headed by Dmitry Mironchik, the Director of the Directorate for Asia, Africa and Latin America, and the Thai side was headed by Krongkanit Rakcharoen, the Director-General of the Department of European affairs.

The Thai delegation was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Evgeniy Shestakov. At the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding Belarusian-Thai cooperation, including through holding regular consultations between the two foreign ministries.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed a broad range of matters of the Belarusian-Thai relations, including development of political dialogue, promotion of mutual trade, expansion of the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation, interactions within international organizations, cooperation with ASEAN and EAEU, facilitation of direct bilateral contacts in the fields of tourism, culture and other humanitarian areas.

Underscoring the existence of vast opportunities to intensify relations between Belarus and Thailand, the two sides have outlined plans for further inter-ministerial engagements.
