Special communiqué in condemnation of the act of aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the abduction of its head of state and government

On January 4, 2026 the Group of Friends for the Defence of the Charter of the United Nations (GFD) issued a special communiqué strongly condemning the act of aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its Head of State and Government.
For reference: the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter was created in 2021 and currently unites 19 states: Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, China, China, Cuba, DPRK, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua, Palestine, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Syria, Uganda, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
In the document, the GFD emphasises the inadmissibility of violations of Venezuela's sovereignty and territorial integrity, reaffirms support for its constitutional government and calls for the immediate cessation of all hostile actions.
