Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov is visiting China, Thailand and Laos

On July 15–18, 2025 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, is paying working visits to the People's Republic of China, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

In China, the Minister will take part in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). This will be Belarus' first participation in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting as a full-fledged member of the Organisation. 

During the meeting, the parties will discuss organisational and substantive aspects of the preparation of the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the SCO, scheduled to be held in Tianjin in September 2025, and will exchange views on issues of multifaceted cooperation within the organisation in the context of the current international and regional agenda. It is planned to address issues of strengthening regional security.

In Thailand, M.Ryzhenkov will hold negotiations with the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as meetings with representatives of the country's political establishment. The focus will be on the prospects for developing bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment, transport, tourism, education and healthcare. During the visit, a significant intergovernmental document aimed at expanding cooperation in the economic and investment spheres is expected to be signed.

In Laos, meetings with representatives of the country's top leadership and extensive negotiations with the Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs are planned. Special attention will be paid to the practical aspects of further strengthening political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, the development of humanitarian ties and contacts between business structures. One of the key outcomes will be the signing of an agreement on visa facilitation, which will significantly ease travel for citizens of both countries and promote the development of tourism, business and cultural exchanges.
