Foreign Minister V.Makei takes part in the meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the Member States to the CIS Statutory and Other Bodies

On July 27, 2021 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, took part in the meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS Member States to the Statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth, which was held in Minsk at the headquarters of the CIS Executive Committee.

In the year of the 30th Anniversary of the creation of the CIS, the Republic of Belarus assumed the Presidency of the Commonwealth.

During the meeting of the Council, the results of the work for the half-year were summed up. 

In his statement, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus emphasized the role of the CIS as an important regional organization and a unique dialogue platform that meets the interests of the CIS member states. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus briefed the participants on the realization of the action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of our country's Presidency of the CIS in 2021, focusing on the development of a common economic space, cooperation in the foreign policy, cultural and humanitarian spheres. 

In particular, it was noted that the Belarusian side is consistently implementing the provisions of the Concept and the Plan, adapting their implementation to new realities and development, as well as paying attention to the implementation of the initiatives proposed during the CIS summit by the heads of the member states.

The importance of completing work on the Agreement on Free Trade in Services, increasing the efficiency of interaction in solving problems caused by globalization and new challenges, strengthening cultural, humanitarian and scientific ties was noted. It is also planned to pay special attention to deepening integration processes and achieving a synergistic effect from cooperation of the CIS member states with other regional integration organizations and associations.
