Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov visits Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China

On September 11, 2024 during his working visit to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, held a number of working meetings in the Government of the Region. 

In particular, promising projects in the educational sphere and youth exchanges were discussed with the Acting Secretary for Education, Jeff Sze. An agreement was reached to intensify interdepartmental and inter-university contacts, to explore the participation of delegations of Belarusian universities in scientific and educational congresses in Hong Kong. 

With the economic bloc of the Government, the parties discussed practical steps and mechanisms for enhancing trade and economic cooperation, strengthening contacts with the business community. The parties noted with satisfaction the growth of trade in goods and services, investment and business activity in 2024. The sides noted mutual interest in more active use of the potential of Belarus and Hong Kong as anchor points of the Belt and Road Initiative in the respective regions for the implementation of new mutually beneficial projects. Special attention was paid to strengthening the legal framework of interaction.  

On the first day of his working visit, Minister M.Ryzhenkov attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Belt and Road Initiative Summit and visited the Museum of War Resistance and Coastal Defence. The museum is a symbol of preserving the historical memory of the Chinese people's struggle and victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II.
