Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus I.Sekretа takes part in an event on the occasion of International Children's Day

On June 3, 2025 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sekreta, took part in the event ‘Protecting Childhood: Platform for Cooperation’ on the occasion of International Children's Day at the National Children's Technopark. The event was organised by the UNICEF Representative Office in Belarus in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the UN Representative Office in Belarus.

Addressing the participants of the event, the Deputy Minister noted the importance of the holiday as an international initiative aimed at protecting the rights, lives and health of children around the world.

Igor Sekreta emphasised that Belarus pays special attention to the protection of motherhood, childhood and traditional family values, and that our country promotes the idea of preserving the traditional family on the international arena: Belarus, together with Egypt and Qatar, initiated the creation of the UN Group of Friends of the Family.

The Deputy Minister also noted the significant role of UNICEF, a long-standing and reliable partner of Belarus, in improving child welfare and supporting children's rights.

The spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Natalia Ryzhenkova, attended the event as a guest of honour.

The celebration of International Children's Day was one of a series of joint events provided for in the Plan for the Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations in Belarus, which was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus on February 28, 2025.
