The delegation of Belarus continues its work in the Second Committee of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly and participated in the discussion of issues related to the financing of sustainable development and trade.

The delegation of Belarus noted the priority of the preparatory process for Member States and the UN for the Third International Conference on Financing for Development to be held in 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The representative of the delegation of Belarus Mr Igor Mishkorudny called on the international community to enhance the participation of developing countries in global economic governance and the reform of financial regulation mechanisms. He expressed interest in boosting cooperation between the CIS and partners of the process of improving the efficiency and stability of the financial system, including the United Nations.

The diplomat of Belarus praised the cooperation between Belarus and the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in advancing the national financial system.

The delegation of Belarus raised the issue of unilateral financial and trade sanctions against Member States, including Belarus, which constrain the sustainability of their development.

Mr Mishkorudny invited interested delegations to take part in the international conference for middle-income countries “Actual issues of the transition to the new tenor of technology”, which is organized jointly by the Government of Belarus and UNIDO in April 2015 in Minsk.
