Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus I.Sekreta meets the OSCE Secretary General

On June 26, 2025 at the OSCE Secretariat the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sekreta, met with the OSCE Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioğlu.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the situation in the OSCE region, ways to restore the Organization's role, internal processes in the OSCE, issues of practical interaction of Belarus with the executive bodies of the organization.

I. Sekreta emphasized the importance of Belarus' contribution to the activities of the OSCE. In particular, in 2017-2019, at the initiative of Minsk, measures were implemented to combat human trafficking, including a high-level side event at the Ministerial Council in Vienna. Belarus made a voluntary financial contribution to the OSCE extra-budgetary project on this topic.

The Belarusian diplomat stressed that Belarus is open to cooperation with OSCE institutions on the activities of the media and journalists, on humanitarian issues and elections, but insists on a depoliticized, mutually respectful and professional dialogue.

I.Sekreta highly praised the personal role of Feridun Sinirlioğlu in the work to restore the normal activities of the OSCE and strengthen its role in  resolving situations related to security threats in the region. The diplomat stressed that it is unacceptable for Belarus to use the authority of international organizations to promote a divisive agenda, including inviting to events persons suspected of extremist activities.

The interlocutors discussed preparations for the III Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security, which will be held on October 28-29, 2025 in Minsk.

Igor Sekreta heads the Belarusian delegation to the Annual Security Review Conference (ASRC), which is being held on June 25-26, 2025 at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna. The ASRC is a key platform for discussing regional security issues and strengthening dialogue among the 57 OSCE participating States.
