25 February 2026

On February 25, 2026, in Geneva, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sekreta, together with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Lyubinsky, held a briefing for Eurasian partners on the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the XXI century.

For reference: The Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the XXI century is an international document, initiated by Belarus and Russia, is designed to promote the development of a sustainable security and cooperation architecture in the Eurasian space based on the principles of equality and indivisibility of security, as well as the independent and united resolution of regional problems by Eurasian states without destructive external interference.

Work on the Charter is open and inclusive and aims to strengthen cooperation in four key areas: security, economics, humanitarian affairs, and civilizational exchange.

A detailed discussion took place on both the content of the Charter and the procedural aspects of its approval and promotion.

On the same day the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Igor Sekreta met with Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy Thomas Greminger to exchange views on the most pressing issues facing European security.

The Belarusian diplomat expressed concern about the growing risks of militarization in the region, particularly the military buildup of neighboring EU states and their withdrawal from several fundamental disarmament treaties, including the Ottawa Convention on Anti-Personnel Mines

The interlocutors agreed on the need to restore cooperation and dialogue between Belarus and Western states and discussed prospects for resuming security dialogue in Europe.

The systematic and constructive participation of experts from the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in the Minsk Conferences on Eurasian Security in 2023–2025 was commended.
