Belarus takes part in the 59th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

The delegation of Belarus takes part in the 59th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, which is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action.

On March 12, 2015 at the general debates Deputy Head of the Department of Global Policy and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Irina Velichko highlighted the achievements of Belarus in the area of women's rights, stressed the full access of women in Belarus to education, healthcare, and employment.

The representative of Belarus drew attention of the participants of the event to the important role of the family in achieving gender equality. I.Velichko noted that efficient investment into this social institution would allow women to make a worthy contribution to the welfare of society and empowerment of women.

Welcoming the initiative of the UN Secretary-General " Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus stressed that achieving gender equality is possible only in partnership with men who must learn how to respect, understand and take into account the interests of women.
