Belarusian delegation to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly

On September 19-24, 2023 the Belarusian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik will take part in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York (U.S).

The 78th session of the UN General Assembly will take place midst the ongoing crisis of multilateralism and worsening contradictions between member states.

The main efforts of the Belarusian delegation will be focused on the promotion of a consolidating and constructive agenda emphasizing the peaceful nature of the Belarusian national priorities and countering initiatives aimed at undermining the national interests of Belarus.

Attention will be paid to unilateral coercive measures, in particular their negative impact on the sustainable development of individual countries, entire regions, the world economy and trade, and their contradiction with international law.

The delegation of the Republic of Belarus will also promote at the UN GA Session the issues of strengthening food security.

At the 78th session, the Belarusian side plans to promote the priority areas of its Chairmanship in the CSTO in 2023 under the slogan “Through solidarity and cooperation to peace and security” and help increase the recognition of the Organization in the UN.

During his visit, S.Aleinik will participate in the general debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, participate in the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO Member States, the Ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, the Ministerial meeting of the Like-Minded Group of Countries Supporters of Middle-Income Countries and in a number of other multilateral meetings.

On the margins of the General Assembly Foreign Minister of Belarus will hold a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as the UN executives.
